Coming up with gift ideas for grandparents or elderly parents can be a real headache for many people. Most grandparents have more stuff than they could possibly ever use. There is nothing they need and very little they want. So, what do you give someone who has almost everything, and their house is already full of family photos, albums, personalized mugs, slippers and bath oils? Here are some gift giving suggestions to get you started. Those gift ideas are perfect for Christmas, birthdays, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.
Donald Thomsen’s insight:
SO . . . What is the “BEST” Life-Changing Gift you can Give your Aging Parents or Grandparents?
If you click on this article, you will find most of the suggested Gift Ideas advocated and featured here are designed to make the aging recipient “MORE COMFORTABLE.”
As you peruse the items, you will find, most of the things, they recommend, are “WORK SAVING” gadgets that help the beneficiary be “FREE” of the drudgery of demanding household chores.
My burning question is; “FREE TO DO WHAT?”
I know you feel you are helping your loved ones by giving them “WORK SAVING” gifts which make their lives EASIER. Unfortunately, in most cases, making their life easier equates to – “DOING NOTHING.” According to my research and my hands-on, experience of living in an, over 55, retirement community for over 10 years. I have found that, in my opinion, “THE BIGGEST KILLER OF OUR AGING POPULATION” is “Physical and Mental . . . INACTIVITY!”
I also discovered that, all too often, the Medical Mega-Industry has been complicit and abetting in promoting pharmaceuticals as a viable alternative to Physical Exercise and Mental Stimulation. Thus the need for the elaborate digital “Portable Pharmacy”pictured in this Post.
You can’t believe the myriad of drugs and stimulants, (MOST folks I know) take on a regular basis. If you research the (possible and probable ) side-effects of these medications . . .“IT’S DOWNRIGHT SCARY.” We want our aging Parents and/or Grandparents to become MORE active not LESS active.
“So I ask again,”
What is the “BEST” Life-Changing Gift you can Give your Aging Parents or Grandparents?
“My Answer is:”
The simple gift of, a Fitness & Wellness, lifestyle change . . . at any age.
